RONALD LESTER
Grandfather
“It is indeed a rare occurrence when we see the raw talent of a rookie, or newbie as it were. My grandkids and I watch countless movies, and some keep our attention, but sadly at the end of most of those movies, if we get to the end, we look at each other and say ‘How in the world did that movie ever get made?’
However, there is a new kid in town. Cody has the innate ability to visualize a scene in his mind and make it come alive. He’s meticulous in his tenacity of getting the best out of those around him: the actors, the screenwriters, and even the extras on the set. He sees it all before he even gets it taped. Just like the nuances of a Steven Speilberg , or a Robert Zemeckis, he will let a scene develop, even if some of it is adlibbed by the actor. He wants them to be a part of the total package, not just a line reader. I’ve watched him work tirelessly to overcome an actor’s trepidations and get them to bring their full ability to the screen. He works all of the angles, whether it’s the camera angle or the facial non-verbal nuance of the actor in response to a line.
What comes out is pure magic. He’s not a perfectionist, but a pragmatist. He wants the actors to deal with their weaknesses and make them into strengths. If a new actor is a little nervous, he puts them at ease. He doesn’t get in the way of their abilities, but he allows them to be the best they can be.When it’s all said and done, everyone wants to be in his next picture. He sees something in everyone that can be an asset, and he knows the people he deals with aren’t perfect, but isn’t that what brings people into the movie houses anyway, the imperfection ofus as human beings. He’s just a young man but he’s very old at developing and cultivating his cast. He is tenacious, yet he gives the impression of being calm. He is the boss on the set, but he doesn’t have to yell or scream, his presence alone lets everyone know he’s there to make the best picture he can. His humility is very refreshing in a business of super egos.
Your mantra should be: ‘I can’t wait til the next Cody Grande picture comes out’.
Enough Said!!”

“It is a pleasure to recommend Cody Grande to the New York Film Academy for the undergraduate program in Film. I have known Cody for five years as a friend and colleague, and in that time he has shown a passion for filmmaking that is incomparable. Cody is an extremely dedicated writer, director and producer, and has the capacity to handle large scale productions with ease.
Cody has demonstrated his passion for cinema and filmmaking for years by consistently working on his craft and creating content on a highly respected level. Cody is looked up to by many students and professors from the Film, Television and Media program at Moorpark College. Cody is one of the easiest collaborators I have had the pleasure of working with, as he demonstrates his ambition for filmmaking on a daily basis. He consistently stays up to date with the industry and works on as many projects as he can get his hands on.
I am confident that Cody will bring heart and authenticity to any opportunity he is given in the film production program at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles. He is a strong candidate, and will be successful in this industry no matter the circumstances.”
